General Note
The first edition (Cincinnati, 1846) was compiled with the assistance of James H. Perkins, based on a general plan by James R. Albach. The second edition (St. Louis, 1850) was revised and enlarged by Mr. Albach with help from the Rev. John Mason Peck, again based on Albach's general plan. Albach himself revised and substantially enlarged this third edition.
